with his agency rising up through the ranks from deputy to Captain. His years of service, background, and extensive experience enabled him to evaluate potential programs of service that his department might institute. He was also the beneficiary of his past recruitment efforts to hire deputies with unique skills who brought such expertise with them into the Office of the Strafford County Sheriff.  One such deputy was Joseph S. DiGregorio.   

Deputy DiGregorio retired from the Dover (NH) Police Department as a lieutenant, has an extensive in depth knowledge of accident investigation and reconstruction techniques, and is a Senior Police Motor Cycle Instructor for the Harley Davidson Motorcycle Company and Northwestern University. Joe was a perfect fit for Sheriff Estes to use his years of law enforcement experience, knowledge of motorized motorcycle patrols, and professional contacts to institute one of the first, if not the first, motorcycle units assigned to a Sheriff’s Department in the granite state.

Many programs involved better or increased service to local law enforcement agencies within the respective jurisdiction of the Sheriff and his deputies..
    In November of 2002, Wayne M. Estes was elected Sheriff of Strafford County. Sheriff Estes had recently retired with twenty-four plus years of service


Although the Strafford County Sheriff’s Office does not routinely perform uniformed patrols within the county, it does lend a tremendous amount of support to its local police departments, especially those with limited and fixed staffs.
