The Training Department serves as the nucleus for all Training/Disciplinary related matters involving the Strafford County Department of Corrections. Supervisory/departmental duties and responsibilities include, but, are not limited to the following:
- Interviews, orientation and training of newly hired correctional officers.
- Accountability for and issuance of all uniforms, accouterments, and correctional
related equipment.
- Manage, and supervise the Field Training Officer (FTO) Program. Assign Field
Training Officers to newly assigned personnel and ensure training is conducted in
accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Coordinate and schedule training sessions and events for all staff. Ensure that the
certification/re-certification training of all correctional staff is conducted in accordance
with the provisions as established by the New Hampshire Association of Counties
(NHAC).
- Establish, coordinate and maintain effective communications and affiliations with the
New Hampshire County of Correctional Facility’s and the New Hampshire Corrections
Officers Academy
The Training Supervisor also functions as the facility’s Disciplinary Hearing Officer, with primary duties and responsibilities for ensuring that all inmates are afforded with the “due process” protections as mandated by federal, state and local laws, statutes, and provisions. He conducts all disciplinary board reviews for institutional infractions, ensuring fair and impartial considerations based on reports and testimonies given.
