The Project prosecutes misdemeanor level domestic-violence related crimes in the county’s three district courts. Agencies within the unit are committed to:
Enforcing arrest policies
Providing intensive bail supervision and pre-trial supervision
Aggressive enforcement of protection orders
Facilitating agency cooperation
Supporting victims and their families from initial contact with police through prosecution, sentencing and supervision
It is the goal of the Domestic Violence Unit to ensure a consistent countywide approach to the problem of violence in families, to provide services for victims of violence, to ensure offender accountability and rehabilitation and to achieve the ultimate goal of preventing further domestic violence.
